Rebar

There are three main cases where stainless steel is the best choice:

  1. When concrete is subject to the ingress of chlorides from either marine environments or de-icing salts. Stainless steel rebar can resist the initiation of corrosion with chloride concentration levels more than 10 times higher than that which carbon steel can resist.
  2. When concrete loses the high alkalinity that protects the carbon steel from corrosion due to carbonation. This can take more than 100 years but ultimately is inevitable, making stainless steel the ideal solution for structures requiring a very long lifespan, for example temples and monuments.
  3. When equipment is particularly sensitive to magnetic fields, such as hospital MRI machines, and needs non-magnetic reinforcement. Unlike carbon steel, the austenitic stainless-steel rebar is not magnetic.

In addition, the stainless-steel rebar has much better ambient and low temperature energy absorption, fatigue resistance, and toughness than carbon or alloy steels, which is important in applications where there are seismic, security, and other impact resistant considerations. It also has improved stiffness and strength retention in fire compared to carbon steel.

Expertise in production

We offer a full range of stainless-steel rebar with high availability. Our fully integrated capabilities, from melting to testing, enables stainless rebar production with industry-leading consistency, delivery performance, and technical support.

Our stainless rebar is produced in a wide range of dimensions and is available in coil, lengths, and shapes. All stainless-steel rebar products are produced in our UK and US production sites. To ensure you high availability and short lead time, the production sites’ capacity is reinforced with strategically located stainless steel rebar stock.

Mainly used in construction, you can find our stainless-steel rebar for example in/at coastal barrier walls, concrete piers, and bridges where chloride-induced corrosion is a risk. Using stainless steel rebar in these environments reduces the lifetime cost of the structure, as well as maintenance-related downtime. Our offering also includes a wide selection to choose from in order to ensure the best for our customers.

Our service packages, which include technical support, long-term pricing, and project management to optimize rebar production, finishing, and delivery according to your schedule are allocated to ensure your performance quality. We offer support all the way from material selection to end use, helping you to get the best result possible.
