Attributes 

  • The most common grades are austenitic and ferritic.

Precision strip

Precision strip is produced in a wide range of standard and specialty stainless steel grades. The most common grades are austenitic and ferriticMartensitic precipitation hardenening (PH) stainless steel Dura 6908 (also known as Ultrafort 1.6908) precision strips are also available; duplex grades are available on request.

All of our products are manufactured to tightly defined tolerances in tension strength, flatness, surface texture, and more. Product dimensions range from 3 to less than 650 mm in width and from 0.05 to 1.5 mm in thickness. Outokumpu stainless steel precision strip is available with embossed surfaces, deburred edges, fully rounded edges, as spooled material, endless strip, and galvanized.

Expertise in production

We offer our customers precision strip products, which are manufactured to tightly defined tolerances in tension strength, flatness, surface texture, and more. The special properties of the precision strip can be targeted to specific applications, including yield strength, tensile strength, grain size, and even isotropy.

Electroslag remelted (ESR) material is used when particularly clean steel is required. For high strength and optimized spring properties, the stainless precision strip is available in a wide variety of designs and finishes.

The availability of specific surface finish and dimension combination depends on the steel grade.

 

Delivery forms

Coils with inside diameter of 200, 300, 400 and 500 mm depending on strip width and thickness. Other coil inside diameters on request. Coil weight up to 10 kg/mm strip width. Can also be supplied on spools on request.

 

Tolerances

Width and thickness tolerances to EN 10258 (formerly DIN 59381). Closer tolerances can be agreed on.

  • EN 10151 Stainless steel strip for springs (any strength within the normal range is possible)

Core 304L/4307

Core 304L/4307 is a low-carbon alternative to Core 304/4301. The lower carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation as a result of heat input, for example during welding, giving improved resistance against intergranular corrosion. Core 304L/4307 is suitable for a wide variety of applications that require good formability and weldability, and can be delivered with a variety of surface finishes.

Core 441/4509

A nickel-free 17% chromium ferritic stainless steel grade with good corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength was originally designed for exhaust systems. Core 441/4509 is available with single (niobium) or dual (niobium and titanium) stabilization. Due to good formability and weldability it is often a suitable replacement for Core 301/4310.

Therma 4828 stainless steel

Therma 4828 is an austenitic heat resisting stainless steel with improved oxidation resistance in temperatures up to 1000°C/1830°F. There is a slight susceptibility to embrittlement during continuous operation atbetween 600–850°C/1110– 1560 °F.
